EBBASA des not allow piebald dogs in their registry. I bet there are some more differences, I am too busy at the moment to read through both standrads

it seems to me,that dogs judged by SABT scores lower than EBBASA.Does SABT have higher demands or is it just a coincidense? I think that it has something to do with how many points SABT and EBBASA give for the different body parts and it probably also has something to do with the person giving the points. There has been a difference, but SABT have also just changed their way of looking at the scoring. In the new version it should also produce higher scores. Shaun

Hi Helena I would agree with Shaun that a lot of scores depend on who the judge is doing the appraisal.I have been to all 4 Sabt appraisals in the UK and one EBBASA appraisal in Denmark.I have found them to be very similar but thought that the scores at this years SABT appraisal were a lot lower than what I expected. This was also the comment made by several other people who I spoke to.Could be the new scoring system that SABT have introduced or it could just have been the Appraiser.I must point out however that I nor any of the other people I spoke to are qualified appraisers so it is just our opinions.Regards Paul.

"SABT have also just changed their way of looking at the scoring. " In what way? The old system (last year) was: - = does not meet standard o = meets standard + = better than standard Then someone poited out to them that it was impossible to get better than standard because meeting the standard is the best possible. The new system (this year) is: - = not acceptable o = not standard but acceptable + = Meets standard Now since "o" was standard last year, it follows that all the dogs that got a "0" as score last year would have to get a + this year. Of course all the + last year would also be a plus this year. So unless they change the system again, theoretically the score should be higher. Regards Shaun

The scores at this year's UK Appraisal certainly seemed low - although lots of the dogs were quite young - We were advised by the Appraiser not to have Tem re-appraised because she would only score about 0.5 above her previous score - but we thought - we've brought her so we may as well. Surprisingly her score went from 81.8 to 83.3 and was the best of the day. We were surprised to later discover that the highest male also scored 83.3. We would like to have her appraised by EBBASA to see what they would give?
Has anyone had their dog appraised by both?
Geri

Attie and Anne from Baden and Induna have their dogs appraised by both. They say they achieve higher scores with EBBASA. Well Geri maybe this time next year we'll be able to say that some of ours have been appraised by both!

hi Geri I had my male appraised at both and the scores where sabt 78.8 and ebbasa 86.2 only a few weeks apart . To have such a big difference seems odd to me the dog was just a year old at the first which was sabt all in 2008 ebbasa told me to bring him back next year and said he would mostprobly do better . Sabt did not say anything .So which is the score to take notice of? Elsa

Hi Elsa Both scores are acceptable for breeding as long as other procedures for hips, elbows, eyes etc have been done. Buse funnily enough scored lower with Ebassa than at SABT appraisals due to being marked down as aggressive! All those who have met Buse , please now pick yourselves up off the floor & stop laughing. Regards Ju

We had Casey appraised with EBBASA in May 2008 90,4% and with SABT Friday the 29th of August 2008 89,8%. Almost the same. Nikita SABT 2007 87,7%, EBBASA 2008 88,8%. She is better now than she was in 2007, so the score should be higher for 2008. Anne
