Well done to everyone for arranging this appraisal at such short notice. How many dogs were appraised in all? I am really happy that things turned out well for everyone involved.
Thank you to the appraisers, the committee, and EBBASA for making this event happen.

Hi Sandra it was great to see you and everyone else who came to the appraisal. We all enjoyed ourselves and everyone involved did a great job to make it a brilliant day especially with all the rain.We were very fortunate to have the hall as for one it was dry to appraise the dogs and two it gave all the dogs chance to show their temperaments off in close up public.I thought the dogs and their owners represented the breed brilliantly. I was told by Linda,Susan and Patricia how much they enjoyed seeing all the dogs and their owners and being in the UK for the first time and made sure they knew they were all welcome over here again anytime they wanted to visit. regards Paul.

Hi Ewa,
Thanks we were delighted that only a few people were put off by the rain and we were pleased that we were able to move indoors and stay dry. Some people were concerned that the dogs would find the enclosed space a challenge but all were great. In fact it was a better test of behaviour.
It was terrific to see everyone especially dogs we hadn't seen for a year or more and all were pleased with their scores.
Now we will have to think about what event we would like to do next. Perhaps a picnic in a park with some activities for the dogs?
Regards
Geri

Hi, I was wondering why some of the dogs wear a Halti (do not know the english name for it)?
Were you allowed to use it in the ring? Do you only use one leash for it? I do not want to sound like a school teacher but if you do this, it can break the dogs neck so normally you use it with a normal collar and 2 leashs.

Linda did explain at the end that the haltis and large collars did the dogs no favours being appraised as she couldn't see the neck, muzzle or lips correctly. I'll leave it up to the owners to answer why they left them on because if it was behaviour wise then I''m sorry they didn't need them as they were all well behaved and in my mind required no haltis.

Hi Meike,
I agree that the headcollar needs two leads - I infact use a lead with a clip on both ends and I find that way, the dogs can not pull me over.
As far as using them at the appraisal I agree with Sandra that they didn't need them behaviourwise but they are used to them and with everything else strange I thought it was better to not change the collar as well.
We have worked hard with Oubie and were delighted that he coped with all the people - he showed his true temperament as a full brother to Tem. It has been hard teaching him that the correct way to greet people is not jumping straight up at their faces - unfortunately as a puppy he was encouraged to do this.

That's great news, glad they are faring better than Tia in quarantine. We go get Anna next week and Roxy arrives in Holland in July,so shall be able to fly over and visit my girl. You know Linda the appraiser, well she has a stunning girl called Nou-Nou,who she won't let go for love nor money so we have booked a bitch puppy from her,(I would also like a male!!)this is a long way down the line but is opening more lines again,so perhaps with all the new genes we are both bringing in the breed will flourish.

sandra, he's just bought another bitch pup line bred to arie!!! she'll be here christmas time... i really hope so the bred is going to go further down hill if people keep breeding the same pair of dogs over and over again. fresh blood from south africa and europe will sort out some of the health problems of the dogs over here with the correct breeding. i was trying to send some pictures of mooi/anton pups but for some reason it wasnt working they are coming on so well we're both over the moon with them..

Hi Geri how are you?
With all our dogs we have to have kennels.. we had such a lovely set up at our old house so starting a fresh at this farm has been hard, but we've finally bought them so 6 weeks from today everyone will be in their new kennel cant wait.
maybe we could arrange a bq and dog day?? we've plenty of room and kennels?
