Crazy prong collars

Hi just wanted all your opinions on the prong/ pinch collar. I recently "stumbled " into a forum for dog problems.
I'm a bit .. well lets say tack less when it comes to telling the good folk I met that their to blame for the dogs problem!!! so I thought I'd get a bit of practice giving advice on this forum. However all the advice seems to involve the use of prong collars. I was most shocked to see that people are using them to train puppies!! A lady with a 4 mth puppy Boerboel was using one and when the collar was removed he growled at his owners. They even seem to use pinch collar training to make dog go pee!!!! I suggested licking its bum instead because to the best of my knowledge mothers didn't bite puppy to go pee!!! Don't think I'm very popular... heyho!!! LOL

Karen,I don't agree with prong collars and would never ever use one but I know that there are some people who have used them effectively on strong minded adult dogs.Opinion will be effectively split on this one.

I would not use one myself.

I have only seen them on American sites and shows where some people seem to think a pinch collar is the easiest way to control a dog.

I am no expert, but like anything, in the right hands and used correctly they are probably a good training aid. In my opinion though if you put the time and continued effort in with your dog there are probably better products on the market.

yes I agree in the right hands... In rehabilitation dogs I can see a use in certain cases but PUPPY training... I foresee many problems, Desensitised dogs and a huge aggression issue. Some use E collars in conjunction with them too. How many tools does one dog need I said. haven't looked at site latelt god knows what abuse I'll find... hehe
