This litter was born on Monday, 2 brindle females, 2 brindle males, 2 brown females and 5 brown males.
The size of the litter was a bit of a surprise, at the most we expected 6-7 puppies so Fiona hid them well.
This is the second time we have made this combination, the hip results of the parents are 0,37 / 0,44 (in best 10% of all Boerboels) and 0,33 / 0,33 ( in best 5% of all Boerboels). Anasha Gaia came from this combination, she is now 15 months old and her PennHIP is 0,32 / 0,34 (in best 5% of all Boerboels).
Regards Anne and Shaun

Here is a picture of the male: Tarzan is without doubt the best looking brindle male we have ever seen. He is also a real darling and a gentleman towards the female dogs. The brindle gene is the dominant one, so in the case of this mating, the father was brindle and one of his parents was also brindle, that means that there were 3 brown and 1 brindle genes present, that in turn means that there should be 3 brown puppies to every brindle puppy. If both parents are brindle, because the brindle gene is dominant, all the puppies should be brindle. here are the puppies: Regards Shaun

A quick note on my post, it´s all about how likely things are, the Mollie x Tarzan litter should have been 2 or 3 brindles and 7 or 8 browns, the reality was that Mollie had 9 brindle puppies and 1 brown.

Hi Shaun and Anne, Lovely pictures of the puppies. Interesting to understand about the genes for the brindles. Love Geri

hi shaun just goes to prove you can calculate the predicted ratio of brindles/coloured pups in a litter, but reality is wait and see! Toska did have 50/50 inher litter. But again in each litter she has produced, you would think her fawn colour would be a dominant gene, but she only produces 1 pup her colour! cris
