Once again today a UK breeder called us complaining about a UKBC board member contacting their puppy buyers and telling them lies. My advice was to join this forum and get a club together that can compete with the UKBC. I also told them that as long as they registered their puppies with SABT, the UKBC board will be able to get the names and addresses of their puppy buyers, and as this is the 5th breeder we know about where this has happened, it is safe to assume that it will continue to happen in the future. so, take my advice and remove their ammunition from them and register the puppies with EBBASA instead. This way NOBODY will contact the puppy buyers for political reasons or just for making things difficult.
There are ways to import semen so it is easy to break their monopoly.

If I'm being honest,if I was new to the breed, these people and this club would be my first port of call. It's unfortunate that this is so, as perhaps, yes,it will put off a lot of potential puppy owners from contacting people with regards to more info about the breed and potentially puppies,BUT,even with the (wrong) press we have had we still have our puppies booked,as I'm sure you yourselves do Shaun and Anne.At least there are people out there willing to visit and see the truth for themselves. Is that legal that the SABT give out private info on BB owners? I know the K.C. wouldn't be allowed to do that in Britain, can you imagine it,it would end in an uproar.

I am sure that use of information for things that were not implied when the information was collected is a breach of the data protection laws in UK.

Shaun,
Will EBBASA be different? It appears that UKBC are going to control those appraisals as well. We would like to see a club which was run purely for the benefit of the breed in the UK - sadly this has not been the case for UKBC. However the bad press from them has helped us to sell puppies since people didn't want anything to do with people who were bad mouthing breeders. If you hear someone say something nasty about someone - the odds are they will say something nasty about you too!!! Most people are wise enough to steer well clear.
It is however good news to hear that Darren has agreed to mate Frodo with Annasha Phoebe since Karl has been looking for a suitable stud for over a year. I believe that Darren would like to change things but it is very hard to change other people.

The proper person to address about the policies of SABT associated clubs is Carine Bollen. I am sure that enough people asking will prompt a response from SABT. I doubt whether addressing questions through Dolph Carstens will bring any worthwhile results as he is heavily involved with the UKBC.

hi from what i've been reading i can see that boerboel scene in the uk will not change but i feel in time the ukbc will dwindle to nothing from what i've been told they have a very few members infact i think the numbers were under 20! i maybe wrong. myself and mark have been on the recieving end of their bad mouths but to be honest its done us good, we've learnt the hard way who to trust and who not to. we've sold all of tia's liter and every buyer was told not to buy a pupppy from us by the ukbc but like everyone on this board our dogs do the talking for us and no matter how hard they try a true boerboel will win over a bad mouth. the ukbc arent breeders they are pet owners with this one i truly feel sit back do what you do and they will become a nothing as far as the boerboels are concerned in the uk. i'm more than tempted to bad mouth them to everyone who comes to see my growing boerboel family but will not drop to their level, from what i've seen of the boerboels owned by the people on this board they are 10 times the animals of the ukbc. i know mine are.... hehehehe keep chins up and happy boerboels vicki & mark

Hi Vicki and Mark,
I agree with you! When people come to see us, we let the dogs speak for us. We tell people if you like our dogs and you meet our criteria to buy one of our dogs, buy one. But talk to other boeboel owners and see their dogs too and don't think you are buying a labrador. Too many people in the UK describe the Boerboel as a large, family pet and people who buy one, will get a big surprise when their puppy turns into a guard dog.
Our owners all want a guard dog and none of them have been put off from buying our dogs - quite the opposite. In fact some have rung us saying that they will only buy from us - because they were told not to!
That's human nature for you.

I see that UKBC are already asking for copies of birth certificates to be sent to them if people want their dogs appraised at the EBBASA appraisal they are intending to run this month so they will have all the information of owners and their contact details so it is looking at the moment that registering your Boerboels with EBBASA will still allow them to have access to personal information so they can contact those owners and bad mouth the breeders to the dog owners so why bother changing and registering pups with them instead of SABT?Although demand for our puppies will go even higher. At this rate people wanting to be considered for one of our puppies will have to book a year in advance.Regards Paul.
