I would also like to add that it is very encouraging that you are prepared to stick to your opinions in spite of the fact that someone who does not know you or your dog is trying to tell you what is right or wrong for your situation. I also think that she is reacting as you want her to, and therefore it can only be a correct reaction

Hi Shaun/ Sandra Thanks for that. Sandra you must be off your rocker having that many dogs - don't tell me you have kids too please. The only negative we have found with Buse is that she will not live with another dog - but hey it just means we get to be with her 24/7 . I guess some dogs love their owners too much to want to share them ! Excuse my ignorance but what alternative is there to Pennhip in the UK that would be acceptable , as Buse is now 14 months would like to get her tested sooner rarther than later. Not quite got used to this message board yet - so you'll have to excuse me if I mess up occasionaly. Regards Ju

hi julie, i read your post on the other board and i for one understand, my yogi is very 'guardy', even with people he knows he will not let them through the side gate, if he is in the yard he protects his boundary, i have to call him in, invite the people in and then he's fine, there's no problem with this as everyone who knows him knows they cannot just walk in without me being there, jan

Hi Jan Will get used to this message board at some point. Just spent 15 minutes writting a little essay only to be chucked out as my user name was already logged on - I'm doing something wrong I think. Thanks it is a good picture & it was a great day out - alot of small children asking why we were walking a pony & others exclaiming 'wow It's Sccoby Doo' I don't have an issue with any of her behaviour , not even her 'guarding' instinct & I certainly don't want people in my house when I'm not in whether I know them or not. Be thankful you didn't get the original message - it could have put you in a coma! Ju

ahah, i'm IN, was saying i'm having trouble replying too, it says the same to me that my user name was already being used? its taking me a while to get used to the way this board works, i didn't notice the quick reply at the bottom of the page, and got in a pickle trying to reply via the blue strip at the top of the page, also i lose where the messages are cos they're in different boxes, i read them once and forget where i've read them and have to go through all the headings to find it not very computer literate me, jan

;D Glad I'm not alone with this modern techno stuff If I didn't have kids I'd be crippled as far as this goes. Buse came across her arch rival today - ferral black cat that keeps teasing her from the top of the garden (bearing in mind due to kids playing etc the garden is segregated by iron railings a third of the way in)I'm sure its got 'balls of steel'. Clive just came back with her from her pm walk, checked for any kids in the close etc & out she came of the boot. - Like a launched missile , she had spotted ferral even if he hadn't - was very amusing to watch. On the plus side she did come back after the first whistle. Guess she doesn't like cats. Ju

Lol, Saint does that with "my own" cat. He's a swift rascal and frequently catches the moggie, but is very gentle. For some reason he likes to fetch the cat to me. Lickily the cats pretty chilled out about it all. He loves baghera the cat to bits, but other cats are nothing but prey in his eyes. I always praise him for ignoring the cats... the last thing I would want is to be dragged everywhere by a large angry male boerboel chasing some poor passing cat.
... but cats pale into insignificance to foxes - he hates them with a passion. He makes no noise whatsovever... he just shoots after them - face livid with rage. Nutty dog. I rather like the fact that he keeps them away from the property as they can make a horrendous racket at night. When we first moved in at christmas it was an issue, but they dont come anywhere near now. A couple have sadly been caught by him, but for the most part his very presence is a deterrent. If he cant catch them in time he makes a racket at them to send them off. I think he see's it as one of his jobs to do, lol.

Hi Jon Sounds like Saint earns his keep. Sadly other than this one ferrel cat Buse is totally oblivious to anything else when out on walks. In the fields we invariably have a baby fox wander across the path about 10 metres in front or baby bunnies hopping about let alone have to put up with the scent of fox in certain areas. All this goes unnoticed by Buse - who likes to chase birds ! Not the brightest bulb in the box sometimes. Its a good job she doesn't have to catch her own food Ju
