Ewa What brilliant pics.We don't tend to celebrate over here in the UK - its seen as a Pagan festival whatever that is. When we were in Latvia its celebrated as Jani & Ligua day.Roughly it entails that no-one is allowed to sleep for the night , loads of Vodka & culminates in everyone/animal having to jump over a bonfire. Wouldn't fancy doing that with a BB ;D Ju

Wouldn't fancy doing that with a BB ;D Ju This is what I wrote on the homepage about midsummer; Today we celebrate midsummer up here in Sweden. That means that people get together for outdoor parties, eat pickled herring, fresh boiled potatoes, sour creme and chives, with this there is often large amounts of beer and schnapps's. For dessert theres fresh strawberries with either whipped creme or ice-creme. There might also be a maypole, dressed in birch leaves and flowers with 2 rings of flowers, one on each arm in the cross. People (mainly children) dance a lot of really silly looking (at least to foreigners) dances around the maypole. One dance is called "Little frog" and people actually jump around the pole like frogs - It's a blast! Ewa

Hi Ewa,
Flowers look great but the dogs don't look impressed! Sounds like quite a party.
