Hello Tahina! Welcome to the board. Hope you'll enjoy this place. You have two nice looking bb's there.
I have a few questions regarding your dogs; how come you decided to mate your female so early?
And what is the health scores regarding your dogs, meaning HD/AD, entropion/ektropion, prolapse...........I'm a health freak (sorry!)
Have your dogs proven themselves in anyway when it comes to working/doing their job? Is it possible to do so in your country? Or have they shown their ability hands on?
Please tell more about being a bb owner in Madagascar!
Ewa

Hi Tahina As with Ewa welcome to the board. Its good on this board in that you don't have to be a member to post etc - just care about the BB's. From the pic Vicky looks lovely - but a very short docking - don't get me wrong this is not a criticism just an observation.I am certainly no expert just wondered about the docking ? Regards Ju

Well, but in my country , there is anyone who can gives score about dog, so I have no idea of things that mayahund wants to know. We just breed dog because we love that, and there is an association who takes care of Malagasys Dogs, but they have not judge, it's so sad isn'it?. But I would want however to know their scores ....However We can find very beautiful specimens here, and not only for boerboel... I think of getting a boerboel in South Africa with scores and registration in the end of this year as it's only at 2hours of flight... People from here are in the habit of mating female dogs about 18 months, I have do it also for my rottweiller, is it to early??
PS: sorry for my english we are more used French in Madagascar

Hi Tahina I am not a breeder - but personally if I was, I would not breed at @ 18 months with a BB.In the UK to get the relevant papers etc the BB has to have had hip/elbow/eye tests etc , otherwise the pups cannot be registered with either SABT or EBBASSA. This is just my understanding - I might as ever be wrong Regards Ju

PS: sorry for my english we are more used French in Madagascar Don't worrie about your english! This is an international board!! If we don't understand you we will ask what you mean! It is very interesting to find out how things work over in other peoples home countries and one as far away as your is really interesting. As for the things I ask for; AD/HD results, they are the scores you get when you go to the vet and have your dogs elbows and hips x-rayed. There is a rather large % of bad hips and elbows within the bb's and some kennels have devoted their breeding program to make this better. Entropion is when the eyelid rolls in towards the eye and the eyelashes "sticks" into the eye causing damages to the eye. Ektropion is when the eyelid hangs and the eye looks red and irritated. Both these condition often, but not always need surgical attention. Prolaps is when the uterus moves or falls down from its normal position like a hernia. As for mating a female up in northernEurope you will find that most people are against it being done before the age of 24 months since the female is considered being too young. Personally I would prefer to wait with matings until the dogs are 3 years, both females and males in order to evaluate just what you have in your hands, both physically and MENTALLY. Most bb's hasn't matured properly until atleast the age of 3. By then you have a good idea on what kind of temperament you will be passing on to the puppies and you will have been able to work your dog in order to see what it's all about in order to not pass on genes that are not desirable. Hope this clarifies my earlier post I do have another question for you; what is a "Malagasys Dogs" If it's a dog breed please show us photos, you got me curious! Kind regards Ewa
