Hi Tony Being dim here (Nothing new) thought Barf was raw food. Whichever breeder you are purchasing from should be able to guide/advise re diet & weight gain. The only thing I can say in my humble experience is that if you go for dry food, preferably adult food with a protein content that is low.Puppy kibble tends to be higher & might cause the pup to grow too quickly causing problems in the future with joints etc. I am sure you will get many more much useful replies on this board though than from myself. Regards Ju

We feed Barf, and always have done since we got Snoop. The best piece of advice that I can give you when starting out is to invest in the Billingshurst books, Give your dog a bone and Grow your pups with bones. I still refer to these now from time to time to refresh my memory. Talking from my own personal experience I admit to being a bit freaked at first at the thought of giving my pup bones, but after a few days my fears subsided, and now 8 months on he is absolutely thriving. I have previously owned a Rottie who was fed on dry and I have to say condition and healthwise Barf is by far superior. I will never turn back. To answer your question of week by week growth, this can vary depending on pup, but you should always look for even growth rather than massive spurts. Our boy is big and at 8 months weighs 60.6kg, however he had very steady growth of 2kg per week, this has now (thankfully!) ;D slowed to about 1kg a week. Hope this is of some help to you
