If any of you did not watch this last night you should be able to get it on iplayer etc. I was shocked & distressed & argue my case for the BB not to be KC registered here in the UK. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Regards Ju

The culprit is not the KC per-se but the selection process which promoted those mental and physical cripples that were selected because they were closer to the standard than another. These abominations (exaggerations) were permitted because function was no longer a part of the selection process. Therefore if using beauty titles to select breed stock continues and our present selection process does not change, it won’t matter for the Boerboel what the name of the beauty organization is.

BBC Dropping Crufts?; tv documentary tonight offered by Bancroft on 19 August 2008 - 10:08 Bancroft The penny has finally dropped that dog showing is a nothing more than a hyped up beauty pagent. Too many unscrupulous breeders destroying the breeds we love. The GSD in the UK is a pale comparison to what it should be. The RSPCA’s chief veterinary adviser, Mark Evans, told the BBC: “The show world is about an obsession, about beauty, and there is a ridiculous concept that that is how we should judge dogs. It takes no account of temperament or fitness for purpose potentially as a pet animal, and that to me makes no sense at all. It is a parade of mutants; a freakish beauty pageant.” Steve Jones, Professor of Genetics at University College London, told the BBC: “People are carrying out breeding which would be first of all entirely illegal in humans and secondly is absolutely insane from the point of view of the health of the animals. In some breeds they are paying a terrible, terrible price in genetic disease.” entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/tv_and... news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7569064.stm
