Well we put Layla in to be spayed yesterday and can hardly believe what has happened. After the op,we were 2 mins in the car when Layla started pouring with blood and shaking.Straight back to vets where he discovered she had burst a blood vessel and she collapsed in surgery in a pool of blood, never seen that amount of blood coming out so fast.God,it was awful.Anyway, she has been left in overnight and I have to pick her up this morning, all being well!!Wish my girl luck!

Just to let you all know,I've been to see Layla and it's not looking good.Blood flow still not stemmed even after he worked on her last night. She will have to have another op after his surgery closes. She just looks dreadful,I feel terrible for her. Will keep you up to date.

Sandra; Our thoughts are with you and Layla. Will keep everything crossed that it all ends well. One lesson lernt is that a bb can endure a lot more than we think they can so don't lose faith.

I agree After Tuke my RR had been spade - the same problem occurred. We never thought she would make it. She did & like Ewa says - dogs tend to be more resilient than their owners. Everything crossed for Layla Ju

Thanks guys.Layla home again, bleeding now been stopped.Something to do with the white blood cells? Ju can explain better than me.We had our dogs on standby for a transfusion but it hasn't been needed. She has never moved in 4hrs.She has a lovely set of pink bandages around her midriff. The vet is opening tomorrow so we can get her checked again. I could cope better if something was wrong with me rather than the dogs!! Another bit of bad news/good news is that one of our 8week old akitas has had to have an op for a loop in the bowel,he has come through it well and will make a full recovery vet said.I feel so sorry for the new owners,he was right as rain when he left here and they think it is something they did as he took ill the next night.Vet explained it could happen anytime during a growth stage, thank goodness for puppy insurance. What a weekend!

Hi Sandra, sorry to hear about Layla and the puppy. We will keep our fingers crossed that they both recover. When Sabrina was spayed the same thing happened. I was on my was home from the vet with her at 11 at night when I had a feeling something was wrong. I stopped the car and turned to look and blood was pouring out of her. The nurse who assisted the vet was also on her way home and stopped to see why I had stopped and she just phoned the vet and told her to get ready to operate once more. Sabrina was fine after the second operation and is now living with Helena in Sweden. Good luck Anne
