Hello all, I thought signing up to the board would be a good start for me to break the ice so to speak. I’m looking to find out as much as possible about the Boerboel before deciding this is the right breed for me.
I have already visited a couple of websites and seen some of the dogs that I like the look of. I have previous experience with mastiff breeds I had a Bullmastiff for 7 great years, and for the last 6 years the American Bulldog.. sadly this breed is seriously flawed with health and temprement issues amongst other problems so after careful consideration the ones I have now will be the last.
I have been interested in the Boerboel for about the last 5 1/2 years, I was even offered a pup but at the time I didn’t know what they were about so I politely declined. Which I know was the right decision. So that’s me, short and sweet.. I'll read the board with interest and if I have any questions I will be sure to ask. I'm not looking for around 18 months maybe 2 years so I have plenty of time to do my research.
Look forward to chatting to you all.

Welcome Karma , be sure to have the parents of the puppies you are interested in , evaluated by an independant , qualified trainer , as to temperament , nerves , stability. THere is just to much emphasis placed the look of these dogs , without proper testing . This breed is also in a great deal of trouble , at least in my country. All attention is placed on aquireing , TTs' , CGC, TD, * not enough on the true evaluation when the dog is mature. Real working titles are proving grounds. , & not only on the parents , but on past offspring . Yes indeed much research is needed before committing to this breed . It does not end there , be sure to be in the position to spend a considerable amount of thime & $$ to train this breed , & be sure to be comfortable with the true temperament of this breed. Oh by the way , what is the true temperasment of this breed in your definition. ?

Hi Karma! Welcome to the board and hope you'll find some answers here. Currently it's a bit slow in here but I think we all suffer from winter depression since many of us live in the upper parts of Europe ;D
