i,ve just found this forum, i have been trying to get as much info as possable on the sa boerboel as we have fallen love with this breed, the more we read about it the more we love it...we are hoping to have one are selves in the next year or so, so the more info we can get the better, one of the main problems were going to have is finding a breed that is within a resonable driving distance from were we live, which is in the wirral, as there does,nt seem to be alot of breeders in the uk at the moment, if there,s anyone here who could point us in the right direction it would be very much appriciated...

Hi and welcome! Hope we can help.
One thing you need to know straight ahead is no drive is too far in order to get a good, stable, with good heritage regarding health BB. You should do your homework extremely well in just about any country of interest.
2nd thing to know; a bb costs rather a lot in maintenance, and I don't mean food! Go look on the variety of mess.boards and you'll find that most/if not all of us had health issues, eventhough tough health screening.
If your still interested, I'm sure you'll find one, but be prepared, however much the breeder screens for, you will probably still have some health/mental issues. So get yourself a really good insurance when you buy your bb.

thanks for ur reply ewa, the reason i mentioned about a breeder not to long a drive away, is so we can visit the breeder and get to know them, also so we can pick the pup and visit as often as alowed without becoming pain. also we would like to have it as a young pup, as i have read gettin them from another country, they would be around 8 months of age before we got it. and i feel the younger it is the greater the bond will be. anyway thanks again for replying and other info you think would be of use would be very welcome.... paula

Hi houghton we are in Northamptonshire just down from Birmingham you would be more than welcome to visit and see our dogs if scotland is not too far then Sandaharr would be well worth a visit also.Best advice i could give would be try to see as many breeders as possible and then decide for yourselves where you would prefer to spend your money to get a puppy that would be best suited for you and your family.Feel free to phone for a chat anytime for any help or advice we can offer regards Paul.
