Sorry those of you who were getting excited or jealous This is about dogs. My beagle bitch is on heat and usually she happily has sex with my castrated collie. I haven't had her speyed because she had an accident and it was touch and go for a few days whether I would lose her, so I haven't put her under another anesthetic. But he is now nearly 15 and not as energetic as he was. My question is is there anything I can give her to calm her down a bit? Previously she has always been satisfied by him but she is now trying to escape at every opportunity - presumably to find another mate. It is also somewhat embarrassing with guests... "Oh don't mind the dogs they're just having sex" ... puts some people off visiting.

Geri When I had Tuke my extremely excitable RR we used a homeopathic drug readily availabe from Boots. This calmed etc but didn't put her into a trance. If you want I shall contact the person who put me onto it (As being senior can't remember now what ist was)- unless you know about it already. Is safe for both animals & humans & have all different kinds of 'pills' for all different kinds of problems. Ju

Paul,
How you could possibly even joke about my adorable Pickle I don't know! She may have eaten three phones - chews regularly through the bilnd cords - eats the venetian blinds. Destroyed two sets of seat belts ...... eats all my knickers and chews holes in trousers. Steals any food she can get her paws on and makes the bed dirty by getting under the duvet. Stood stock still infront of a barely moving land rover and needed special medicine from local casualty department.... BUT I love her and she prepared me for life with BBs.
And remember when you put her picture on our website people phoned up wanting us to breed her!
Geri
PS I will make some very heavy sandwiches for next time I see you.
