Hi guys Would like to know if any of you with female BBs out there experience the same problem I have with Buse at the moment. Her season is due @ next week - this week however if I dare leave her for 5 minutes she finds something to destroy. On the other hand if I'm downstairs she won't come into the same room as me! Moody cow or what? Possibly also think she might be picking up on 'my' emotions at the moment. So far we have chewed the bottom of the stairs, tryed to dig the garden, destroyed oven gloves(Not that they're used much),trainers, slippers & a mobile phone.Buse not me that is. Ju Suggestions on a postcard please before I lose my sanity.

Hi Ju,
I don't have problems with Pickle because Tony sees to her needs throughout her season. In the early stages there is lots of flirting and chasing around and licking of bodies. Later on they have full sex and then she runs around the house squealing with delight. The only problem is that Tony at 15 is finding it increasingly difficult to go the full distance.
So I reccommend a castrated companion who will distract her from wanting another mate and fulfil her wildest desires.
Alternatively some special huge chews - white raw hide and lots of exercise.
Paul suggests - speying or having puppies!
Love Geri

Sorry forgot to say - she probably is picking up on your feelings so I would also reccommend letting her snuggle up on the sofa with a big box of chocolates!
Paul however suggests a kennel in the garden - not sure whether he means for you or Buse!!
Only kidding

Hi Ju! From how you describe the situation I'm not at all sure it's because she's in heat. I would rather have it that, she's bored! You and your family's had a lot of other things on your mind lately, maybe she' feels a bit "unloved" and given way too little attention ( Chili wants attention 24/7) I'm also sure she's picking up on your emotions. They're terrible detectors of moods. This might make her unsure on how to behave - "should I enter the room and maybe get scolded 'cause mum's having a fit - or should I stay out here? I am NOT saying you have made her feel this way intentionally, but you've had a lot on your mind lately and might have acted without noticing yourself. Chili used to be a real PMS monster but it would show itself by her being really edgy to wards Mubi (and other dogs) she would challenge us all for the Alfa position up to 3 weeks before going into heat and for a couple of weeks after. This time, third heat, she's been an angel! (Thank you God;)) She never chewed anything like what you describe. Ohh, well, my favorite sneakers.... Mubi likes to dig in the garden when she comes into false pregnancies and Chili's learned from her! But not before the heat. So this is my postcard; If I were you, I would try to distract her. Kong's with fillings, marrowbones, anything that could keep her brain occupied. I would also develop a 6th sense regarding were I put my things of value! Once a friends dog ate 250 E that she left on her bedside table Ewa So

I have to ask Ewa, did the owners wait for the evidence to send to the bank for refunding? Did the wash it first?

Hi guys Thanks for that. Agree with all said - apart from the kennel (that would be for Clive) & chocolates which I hate with a passion. Brought Buse a brand new Kong which she managed to destroy believe it or not within 10 minutes!(Admittedly I was on the phone to Sandra at the time) Have gone heavy weight now with fork-lift tyres (They don't have steel in them) - I know this as I used to manufacture lorry tyres. Yep Geri will have to decide whether to spey or breed - shes such a lovely natured & good looking girl it would be a shame not to - but on the other hand wouldn't know where to start as have never bred before etc. Ju

Shaun,
Banks require the piece of the note with the numbers on and it would have to be washed! I can just see you doing it! Pickle went through a spell of stealing any notes from the kitchen and tearing them in half. Fortunately I could just stick them back together with sticky tape!

Ju,
Distraction techniques and extra long walks also seem a good idea to me.
As far as breeding puppies goes you just have to be prepared to do nothing except vet puppy owners and look after puppies for 16 weeks solid and then have the facilities to take back and re-habilitate any puppies which end up with problems with their owners.
That's the difficult bit!
Oh yes and you have to be able to let all the puppies go to new homes and not keep keeping more and more.
Look at how many dogs we and Sandra and Shaun and Anne have...... and look into your crystal ball and imagine yourself with 3? 5? 10? BBs??
These are the risks you would be taking..

"Look at how many dogs we and Sandra and Shaun and Anne have...... and look into your crystal ball and imagine yourself with 3? 5? 10? BBs??" It´s a bit difficult to see what we have as we are not too quick to update our website. Here is a list and the position they have with us: Anasha Maya breeding female (tested for everything Anasha Aisha breeding female (tested for everything Anasha Nicky Future breeding female (tested for everything) Anasha Malaika For sale (not tested) Anasha Charlie Breeding male (tested for everything) Anasha Gaia Future breeding female (tested for everything) Anasha Bully Breeding male (tested for everything) Anasha Nancy Future breeding female (Not tested) Boersplaas Savannah Future breeding female (Not tested) Anasha Betty Future breeding female (Tested for everything) Anasha Tassie Future breeding female (not tested) Anasha Luna Breeding female (tested for everything) Anasha Angel Breeding female (tested for everything) Anasha Diamond Breeding female (tested for everything) Kayser Bella Breeding female (tested for everything) Wesley Happy Breeding female (tested for everything) Esfa Mollie Female Pet Anasha Sonny Male Pet
Tested for everything means tested and free (hips, elbows eyes and vaginal prolapse)
We have 18 dogs here at the moment and a capacity that allows to take a couple of more in if it should be neccesary, well within what we are licenced for. Full time work for me. Eat for £1200 -£1700 each month Vet bills for £1200 - £2000 each month. Kennel Heating for £300 each month electric for £300 each month Kennel repairs for £300 each month car expences for £500 each month registration costs of £x each month dog muck removal for £100 each month carpets, blankets etc for £100 each month These are the rough costs of running a proper kennel and do not include establishment costs like kennel units etc.
All in all about £4000 a month or so. We are VAT registered so we can get 20% of those costs back (£800) but very few in UK can be VAT registered as your annual turnover has to be £50000 or more (I heard). We have bred Boerboels for 7 years now, out of these 7 years, only 2 have showed a profit financially and this profit does not compensate for the losses of previous years. Just look at the testing costs PennHIP plus elbows costs £250 here (£400 in UK), we have tested over 70 Boerboels, that is £17500. Then there is for eyes and vaginal prolapse as well. If you are going to collect top quality Boerboels, you had better have deep pockets, we have removed or not admitted over 70 boerboels from our breeding because they were not good enough. That alone has cost us over £100000.
I forgot to add that being VAT registered means that we have to pay 25% VAT on each puppy we sell, it also means that if there is a profit at the end of the financial year, I will have to pay from 45% income tax to 68% income tax depending on the size of the profit. Do not be tempted by "easy" money, if you do not test and have high standards, people will find out and you will go out of business at some time. If you have high standards, you had better have deep pockets.

Hi Shaun its really a shock when you look at it in terms of money.I think if Julie was to breed Buse it would be to have a litter to try and pass on the wonderful temperament that she has and the fact that she has no health problems unlike a lot of Boerboels in the UK.There would also be the possibility that it might stop the phantom pregnancies she has after each season although there is no guarantee of that.I dont think for one minute she would consider it easy money especially as she is an accountant.Regards Paul.

Hi Ju,
I don't think Shaun mean't to sound that way. Loads of people have the illusion that Shaun has made lots of money from having loads of litters the reality is the opposite. Breeding dogs is expensive and breeding big dogs even more so. I have personally spent over £10000. More importantly is the on going cost of supporting the puppies for the rest of their lives unless you are hard hearted enough to just take or tell other people to take their dog which has behaviour problems on a one way trip to the vet.
It also takes over your entire life for 18 weeks - this is why generally people are quite happy to see puppies go off to their new lives.
Thus it is not a step to be taken lightly.
We would happily support you at every step if you choose to breed Buse but it would be unfair for us to blindly encourage you to breed because Buse is such a good bitch. She would benefit the gene pool in the UK but the experience would cost you personally and financially.
But why do we all do it? Because we love these dogs and enjoy most of it! ;D

Not long been back after coming away from the vets. We were kept in an alternative waiting room as there were lots of small ,yappy dogs in the main one.The vet came out & gave her a jab up the bum & said he would be back within 2-3 mins - she was already falling under & had her head on my lap & I was desparately trying to keep her semi-conscious. The vet took her through & I came away with tears - thinking what have I done? Ju

Hi Ju Just the worst feeling in the world, leaving them at the vets for an op. I did the same today for Bob, snapped a cruciate ligament yesterday. I hope all went well for you both and you are spoiling her rotten tonight. All the best

Thanks to all Yes all went well. We left Buse @ 10.30 & picked her up at 2pm! You wouldn't even know she'd had anything done - so I checked her tummy for stitches to make sure Nice quiet night last night - she was in the lounge with us on new bedding then we brought Sim in on a lead to make sure he wasn't going to jump all over her as puppies tend to do. At bed time Buse had place of honour with a bed next to a storage heater in the hall & Sim was in the conservatory. We thought little one would winge all night - but we didn't hear a peep out of either. Good result all round - still feel guilty though! Ju
