Hi All, I have a question for everyone and anyone who deals with the SABT on a regular and consistent basis.... Just how strong and reputable is the SABT right now? I have spoken with quite a few different breeders who have put in paperwork and placed enquiries with the registery but have not gotten any responses or replies.. The last thing I heard about the SABT was that Yvonne was leaving, and since that has happened there are quite a few people who seem to be getting no where fast with them? Is the SABT dying off and EBBASA/ KUSA taking over? Marcella

A very interesting question Marcella. Personally I think it looks like Sabt is loosing power. But I'm not a breeder. But when looking on what the "rap" is like, I think that Sabt might be biting their own tails by going restricted on the "schutzhundtraining" and not wanting to participate in joining the KUSA. Ewa

I completely agree with you.... a registery IMO should be just that, there to compile all the geneological data and hand out paperwork to dogs that carry proof. When they start to put restricitons and stipulations onto what we as breeders can and can not do in order to test and prove our stock, this is not appropriate. I was just a little bit curious to see if anyone else has been having issues with them in recent times or if what is happening is just pick and choose!

We too have been having problems with the paperwork from SABT. When we started breeding BB´s the paperwork took approximately 6 months to a year, then it became much better and took under 6 months as a rule. Now it has obviously gone back to the previous waiting time. I personally do not understand that why we as breeders and the owners have to wait so long, it obviously looks unproffesional to all concerned.
After all there are both European and USA departments, why cant they just issue the paperwork from these offices and once a month send a CD/DVD back to RSA for record keeping reasons? Why cant they make the database available to the different offices so that inclusion can be instant? Don´t they trust them?
I personally look forward to having our paperwork done by a proffesional organisation at last.

My question is -Why don't they have Paypal??? All this extra for bank charges is ludicrous,we all try and get together and pay all at once so we are not all paying almost £30. They would have their money in an instant and if there are any problems we could be refunded through Paypal too! The post to SA is shocking at the minute. All my puppy paerwork has gone missing en-route and I sent out 2 sets of boarding passes to Johan for our girl Zoe( ) and he has still never received them.Had to use DHL and that is a whole other story!

Gee.... it sounds as though there are more and more people who are unsatisfied with the SABT on many different levels. and here I thought it was only over here in North America that this sort of thing was happening! So hmmmm.... does anyone have any ideas of what we can do over on this side of the pond in lue of the SABT? What is EBBASA like, does anyone have any complaints, or comments? Marcella

Hi Marcella I am still waiting for papers for Buse from August last year through SABT. Took her down to Devon later on for Ebbasa appraisal - not to be appraised but to get to know different faces etc. It might be interesting to know if the owners concerned who had their dogs appraised have had their paper work back. I don't know much I'm afraid as I am not a breeder. Ju

Our experience is that EBBASA is a much smaller registry and that allows them to know the different breeders personally. There is still the problem with the post in RSA being slower than slow, however it is not controlled by South Africans who want to consolidate power in SA. With the SABT, we often get the feeling like being treated like cattle, farmed if you like to pay our dues, ask no questions and do exactly what we are told to do regardless of what it is or pay the price. Helpfull suggestions to SABT amount to treason, it would not surprise me at all if we get thrown out for writing this. This feeling does not occur with EBBASA.
