hi shaun , I also give him raw chicken backs which he loves.we thought that might have been making him worse, but from what you are saying your dogs are fine.when would you recommend giving my other 4 month old BB Chicken. You know years ago, when they fed dolphins at zoos, they filleted and gutted the fish and cut the heads off before they fed them to the dolphins, this resulted in the dolphins becoming very ill. It took them a while to realise that they good wishes for the dolphins was actually what was causing the problems. If you give a dog a whole chicken or a half a chicken, it is getting the meal more or less as nature intended. If you only give necks, backs etc, you may well be asking for problems. Our 4 month old puppies get ½ chickens to chew on, it helps clean their teeth as well as forcing them to take a long time eating. Even when we have 2 dogs living together we feed raw when we can. I know others would balk at the idea, it can cause fights, but we concentrate on controlling the dogs so that fights are avoided. Shaun

Hi Shaun where did the old-wives tale that you should never give a dog chichen bones come from? Or does that just apply to cooked chicken? Ju The trouble with any bones that are cooked is that they splinter, raw bones bend. A dog is by nature a scavenger/hunter. It will eat a dead bird if it finds it, the body has to be prepared for this. We have never experienced any problems with raw chicken. We would never give them cooked bones of any animal. Shaun

This happens if you give your dog a bone and leave for work He rubbed his nose and muszzle bacause the bone stuck in one of his teeth.. Everything was full of blood... Great scenario for closing time isn´t it? www.boerboel-info.de/wbb2/thread.php?threadid=2010
